Job Description:
Access Group, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing access to education through affordable financing and related services. In addition, to providing private and federal loans to graduate and professional school students, we also offer a variety of debt management materials and software, a need analysis service, and a host of online services for schools and students. We are located in Wilmington, Delaware. For more information, please visit www.accessgroup.org. We are currently recruiting for a Communications Operations Manager to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • As assigned, gathers information and writes text for workshops, training materials, presentations for delivery by senior staff and School Services staff, RFI “request for information” responses, school-specific and customized materials, and responses to loan comparison survey requests.
  • Serves as a proactive resource to various departments to define appropriate procedures and develop message content for systems-based communications (fulfillment, adverse action, borrower instruction, cancellation, collections, and loan processing letters; and system-generated error messages), as well as ad hoc customer service responses.
  • Maintains records of company-wide, “life of the loan” operational communications.
  • Seeks opportunities to help departments and project leaders communicate effectively about policies and procedures.
  • Reviews draft content and final versions of text and provides quality control and feedback on needed revisions for communications group members and other staff.
  • Monitors materials to reflect changes in loan programs and services and maintains consistency across old and new materials; keeps staff informed of changes in “approved” language.
  • Manages review and approval process by internal staff, legal staff, subject matter experts, program participants, and any others as required.
  • Provides writing expertise to teams. On team projects, writers are often the key component in launching the efforts of the entire team, since they blend the ideas of many and put forth a result that reflects multiple input.
  • Performs commercialization activities in support of product launches and other activities with communication needs.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • College graduate with bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, or related field.
  • 5 - 7 years of proven communications experience. Some experience in the student lending industry or operational communications desirable.
  • Previous experience writing RFI (Request for Information) responses strongly preferred
  • Must be able to prioritize, manage, and accomplish a variety of projects and tasks in a busy environment.
  • Must be able to adapt to frequently changing priorities and maintain momentum despite competing priorities and time-lines.
  • Must be a “self-starter” and work with minimal direction on assigned tasks and responsibilities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with senior staff, colleagues, and other staff orally and in writing.
  • Ability to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles, ranging from Board communications and customer correspondence to informal employee communications
  • Must be able to establish and build trust and confidence with peers, management, and other key stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively manage key peer and business relationships so that problems are resolved and day-to-day working relationships are cultivated and maintained.
